Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

Sent multiple different letters in mail wanting me to call and activate a service contract for a vehicle I do not and have never owned. I went to check my credit reports because I thought someone had stolen my identity and purchased a vehicle. Since no hard inquiries showed up on any of my credit reports, I knew it was just a scam to try to get me to call them at the number on the letter. The number on the letter is not the actual number of the actual company, Atlas Vehicle Protection. Letter uses the typical SCAM tactics of URGENCY and TIME SENSITIVITY and FEAR to try to upset people into calling them. The days of being able to trust what is sent in a letter or email are OVER!!! No one should be calling the number in the letter!!! Look up the information for yourself and call that number to find out if the letter is real!!! Stop trusting what you get in the mail, because there are too many scammers out there with nothing better to do than dream up more BS to try and scam people with.
