This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I called the number I googled for Spectrum customer service, the scammer tried to sell me service through another provider and logged into my Spectrum account with my phone number. They tried to request personal information including my birthday and social security number, at which point I hung up. I found the actual Spectrum customer service number and they confirmed this was a scam
