This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
My mom received an un-ordered package from Amazon (two of the same book). No receipt or details inside. Upon a bit of googling, looks to be a brushing scam. Technically, she does not have to pay for said items, but her information has been compromised and her personal details have been accessed. Have changed passwords and reported this to Amazon, BBB, and will report to FTC once government shutdown is over. A free package seems innocent enough, but if it's too good to be true, then you know something's amiss.
