Description

If you have a Facebook or Amazon account, you've probably seen ParaPurge (anti-parasitic) advertised. I noticed a $49.99 charge to my checking account from "Purelynutra" or "Purely Nutra" but I knew I had not made a purchase for that amount. I started digging around and found it was the second charge of this amount from Free Range Supplements. I did make an initial purchase from them to check out their product/claims, but I recall specifically looking for the ubiquitous "subscription" discount when I was checking out, but there was nothing visible on the checkout page, nor did I want to subscribe. When I contacted Free Range Supplements, they said the charge was mentioned in the "Terms and Agreements" buried down on paragraph #21. If you make a purchase from Free Range Supplements, any purchase, you are automatically signed up for a membership which actually gives you nothing other than "discounts" on their already overpriced "supplements." Is it even legal to bury hidden costs in Terms and Agreements? If so, how? Why? This is the definition of a scam hidden within legalese speak. I initially visited their site, and was offered a 15% discount on my first purchase for giving them my e-mail and phone number. I attempted to apply the discount code at check-out, but was prompted that the code was "invalid." I should have backed out at this point. To make matters worse, they claim the product is produced in the U.S., but I made an inquiry after a couple weeks why shipping was taking so long, only to find out the product was being shipped from China. This company is the perfect reason people have trust issues. I have definitely learned my lesson. If you are a legitimate company advertising on Facebook or Amazon, at least in my book, you cannot be trusted. Apparently, Facebook is "infected" with a bunch of "parasitic" Chinese companies scamming money from Americans by selling knock-off products and predatory scams buried in "Terms and Agreements." Prove me wrong.
