Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I received a message on Facebook messenger from a person claiming to be Kate Evans a supposed billionaire. This person claimed they wanted to give me $2.5 million dollars. In order to receive this money I needed to purchase a $100 Apple Gift Card and send pictures of the front and back of the card to the address used in messenger. Once the pictures were sent the person claimed the $2.5 million was being packaged for delivery by FedEx. The catch was then revealed. The recipient needed to pay a $250 security check fee before the money could be delivered. This immediately raised suspicion with me so I checked for any online complaints and found many! Unfortunately for me I had already sent the pictures of the Apple Card.
