Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I received a fake email pretending to be from PayPal. The email indicated that I would be charged for an iPhone 17 by the Apple Store. I needed to call if I had concerns. I called the number and felt uneasy after the person introduced themselves and then started asking more personal information, such as my email address, where I access my account, etc. I told the person on the phone that this felt like a scam/fraud, and as the call went on, I felt even more unsettled about it. At that point, the person hung up/ended our call. Below is the content from the email. I hope this helps someone. ----------------------- PayPal Recurring Payment Reactivated Your Merchant has reactivated the following recurring payment. Please contact your merchant with questions.
