The imposter tried to instill fear by saying they’ve received several complaints over the past couple weeks. Imposter said that people are having issues with internet connection and landline use. I was not having any issues at all. The only thing I called for was my access code for my landline telephone so I could access my voicemail. This person said the only way I would receive a code is by upgrading my router. He said that they were a subsidy of Metronet called Spetrum. Once he tried to obtain my SS number either by telephone or through a link on the internet, I said absolutely not. He said they need to do a credit check and that if I don’t provide them with a SS number they may have to charge an extra set up fee. Then I said I am not having any connection issues at all and just want my access code. Finally after telling him I was reporting him to the BBB, he gave me the correct phone number for troubleshooting at Metronet. Then he hung up on me. This man was going to change my internet provider by lying to me and making me believe it was the only option I had in order to get access to my voicemail. He manipulated me through a scare tactic and was going to completely change me to a different provider. The website only provides a phone number. I am sure it’s a legit business that receives commission on HSFI sales but I don’t know if it’s for multiple companies or just one. I am not sure. The phone number is +18884573638.
