I signed up for Headway under a “free trial” offer and canceled the subscription almost immediately after signing up. Despite this, I was charged approximately $98 a few days later. When I checked my Google Play purchase history, there was no record of this transaction through Google. I contacted Headway support and explained the situation. I requested a partial refund since I had canceled promptly and did not use the app. Their response was that the purchase was processed through Google, and they stated they could not issue a refund. I provided evidence that the charge did not appear in my Google Play history and reiterated my willingness to accept even a partial refund. They continued to deny responsibility and refused to issue a refund. To confirm, I attempted to log into my Headway account through their website to review my purchase history. At first, I was blocked from accessing my account for around 10 minutes, receiving repeated login errors until I kept refreshing. Once I finally gained access, my account showed no purchase history at all. This timing may be coincidental, but it raises concern that I was prevented from accessing records immediately after being told the purchase was not made through their app. This incident reflects a misleading “free trial” process where charges occur despite cancellation, and accountability is avoided. I am submitting this report to document the situation and help prevent others from experiencing the same.
