Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

Received emails with reminders to pay HOA Assessment. I do live in a building with an HOA, but this email came to the wrong email address and didn't include any identifying information about the building. The email reminders and website (hoausa.org) look INCREDIBLY legitimate, and I am a younger person who still questioned if it was a scam. From the website: Homeowners Association of America Official Member Services & Payment Portal Pay your assessments securely online with industry-standard encryption and reliable processing. We never request card or bank details by phone or text.
