An individual claiming to be Andreas M. Antonopoulos, a well-known cryptocurrency educator. The scammer used the email [email protected], WhatsApp number 645-444-1113, and requested a Bitcoin payment to bc1qup8pdkedndm43lssr6muvpya56673us293jnuh. He initially demanded $2,000 upfront, later reduced to $1,000, claiming it was refundable. After sending payment via a Bitcoin ATM, he requested an additional $1,070, claiming it was needed to “start the process.” At that point, it was clear this was a fraudulent operation. Research confirmed that the real Andreas M. Antonopoulos does not provide fund recovery services.
