The scammer approached me at my home with an offer of leftover gravel from a nearby job site at a supposed reduced rate of $27 / sq. Yd. I did not know that was not a normal method for measuring gravel for sale. He would not provide any sort of estimate because he claimed he didn't know how much coverage the gravel would provide in my driveway but assured me it was a good rate. He showed up an hour later with the gravel, a roller and a skidsteer and cleared the drive and laid the gravel and proceded to compact it. He then offered to have me walk with him to do his measurement of the area covered. His calculations came up to be over $2500.00! This was nowhere near what I had thought the cost would be. This should have been maybe a $500 job at best.
