I recently applied to several remote job positions online. A day later, I received an email from the address [email protected]. The email stated that the position I had applied for had been filled, but claimed my resume was a good fit for another available remote position. It invited me to schedule a meeting with the "founder" to learn more about the new role, the pay, and the company. I noticed several red flags. The sender's email address was generic and did not match the domain of any of the companies I had actually applied to. The body of the email was also very vague and did not mention a company name or reference the specific job I had originally sought. The email directed me to a Calendly link to schedule the interview. The scheduling page was also completely generic, with no company logo or branding. The title of the event was simply "Company Meeting/Interview" and the host was listed as "Jacob (Founder)," with no last name or company affiliation provided. The entire process felt like a phishing attempt designed to lure job applicants into a fake interview process to steal personal information.
