This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I received a suspicious email indicating it was from PayPal noting a recurring payment of $1499 for an iPhone. Message from merchant: Unauthorized activity: ????????.???? USD detected. If unfamiliar, call (??????) ??????-???????? immediately to stop payment. Further down the page the Recurring Payment indicated 4999 Japanese yen. The top of the email didn't include my full name and instead said Hello, Invoice Update. I logged into my PayPal account to see if there was recent activity matching this, but didn't see anything relating to this.
