Description

I received an unsolicited email offering me a work-from-home position as a “Quality Control Inspector” for a company called Crossway Cargo LLC. The offer was presented without any prior application or interview, which was the first red flag. According to the email, the job would involve receiving packages at my home address, inspecting them, and then reshipping them using prepaid labels provided by the company. The position was described as requiring only 10–15 hours per week but promised a salary of $4,200 per month, with the first payment delayed until 30 days after the first package was reshipped. Several details raised suspicion that this is a scam: No interview or screening process – A legitimate logistics or freight company would not hire someone for a position handling sensitive shipments without verifying qualifications, conducting a background check, or at least holding an interview. Unrealistic pay for minimal work – The compensation offered was far above typical wages for part-time work of this nature. This is a common tactic in employment scams. Package reshipping requirement – The job description closely matches known “reshipping scams,” in which individuals are used as unwitting “mules” to receive and forward stolen goods or items purchased with stolen credit cards. Delayed payment – The promise of payment only after 30 days suggests they intend to exploit the worker for as long as possible without actually paying. Use of personal address and resources – The company expected me to use my home address, printer, and storage space to handle shipments, which is highly unprofessional and risky. Taken together, these factors strongly indicate that this is a fraudulent employment scheme designed to exploit individuals and potentially involve them in illegal activity. I am reporting this because it appears to be an employment scam targeting job seekers.
