Description
I used LinkedIn for Jobs and applied to several content management and proofreader jobs on Sep 22 2025. I then received a text message from 1-833-464-0625 saying they received my application on LinkedIn for a freelance Proofreader and invited me to chat via MS Teams. I was told to search for 4153783897. I did that. I had an interview via Teams with Emily Sisto. I was hired. I signed an employment contract. I was then instructed to obtain Apple products to do the job. SCRIBE MEDIA [Scribe Media hr at scribemedia.com.es ] sent me a check for $3915.69. I purchased $3960 in the Apple products Emily said I needed & was then told to ship the laptop and ipad to their IT team for setup. I UPS shipped overnight to Earl & Martinez 100 west 139th St apt 49b NY NY 10030. The next day, Wells Fargo returned the deposited check of $3915.69. Simultaneously, Emily told me I needed to purchase a SECOND computer and ipad for my supervisor - so both devices could be configured the same way. They sent a check again (via email) for $4950.67. I attempted to deposit. Again, this deposit is held. I contacted Emily Sisto -- the HR contact I was to work with via MS Teams - and told her this was a scam. I am now out of pocket for $3,960 that I spent at the Apple Store plus $280 spent on UPS - and I don't have the MacBook Pro and the iPad Pro. These are both with their "IT Specialist" in NY.
