I made payment to a company called My Passport Hub (https://app.mypassporthub.com/) for an amount of $164.80 for passport fees (or so I thought). Then, I had my appointment with the Post Office to turn in my passport application, and they told me the fees I paid to My Passport Hub were not legitimate charges to the US Department of State and that I had been essentially scammed out of the money. I had to pay the exact same amount again ($160) to the US Department of State at the Post Office with a money order I purchased through the passport clerk.
