Description
I received an unsolicited email from someone claiming to represent a company called “United Capital And Merchant Services.” The message promoted a program called the “Federal Business Relief Initiative (FBRI),” which was described as a government-backed funding opportunity offering up to $5,000,000 in capital with low monthly payments and a 7.5% interest rate. The email included vague eligibility criteria and a link to a JotForm (https://form.jotform.com/243514583662157) to “check if you qualify.” It also listed a phone number and a business address in New York. However, the sender’s email domain (wsc.finance) did not appear to be affiliated with any legitimate government or financial institution. The message used official-sounding language and urgency to encourage business owners to apply quickly, which raised concerns about phishing or financial fraud. No personally identifiable information or money was submitted, but the scammer clearly attempted to collect sensitive data under false pretenses. This scam targets small business owners by impersonating federal programs and offering unrealistic funding terms. Others should be cautious of unsolicited funding offers, especially those using unofficial email domains and unsecured form links.
