Text message from (877) 455-8569 said "Hi (my name), this is Mia from ATO. We would like to review your application regarding your personal loan. Txt END to opt out. (My name) if you no longer need the loan, let me know. Otherwise, can I call you now to discuss?" I had not requested any loan. I asked for information about when the loan was submitted (to make sure it wasn't a case of stolen identity), and the text responses were evasive and automated, inevitably leading to an automated phone call asking me to "Press a number to connect with one of our agents!" I called Amity One via the number posted on their website (866) 255-3783, and "Mark" confirmed this was an actual text from Amity One. He was also evasive about the loan I had supposedly requested, but finally admitted I had not requested a loan, describing the automated texts as "a proactive measure to assist with a loan". The initial text is purposely misleading in an unethical ploy to get customers. Of note, I am registered on the Do Not Call List (and have been for years) and I am also reporting this contact via that website.
