I wanted to raise awareness about an apparent scam that claims to relieve a significant tax burden for people. The company is called "Finish Line Tax Solutions" (https://finishlinetaxsolutions.com/) and will tell you, just verbally, that they will be able to eliminate 90-95% of back taxes that you owe. They wanted $4,500 from me upfront to engage their services. Since I have a substantial tax debt (~$ 28,000), that sounded like a great deal. This is a blatant scam, and I was luckily not taken in by these thieves. Unfortunately, this firm was referred to me by OptimaTax Relief, a company that has excellent reviews and is supposedly reputable; this is what hooked me at first. I hope at least one person reading this will benefit from my post and NOT give these people any of your money! Please go with a company like Anthem Tax Relief, which is reputable and will let you know up front if there is any assistance that can be given. However, I recommend avoiding these companies altogether and going directly to the IRS website. You know the old saying: "There are only two things in life that are unavoidable, death and taxes." That, my friends, is the harsh reality and an absolutely accurate quote. Good luck to everyone seeking tax relief in any way. I genuinely applaud you if you can get any significant results!
