Description

Emma and Mia Jewelry LLC announced a huge online sale on their website with significant discounts because of their retirement and end of business. That is what the website suggests, two retiring jewelers in Arizona, who made handcrafted jewelry. The pictures showed really nice pieces and a 80% discount because of the retirement seemed an attractive opportunity. I ordered online several pieces of jewelry - two different orders - for in total USD 205. Everything seemed fine during the order process, with instant order confirmation and in between emails that my items were on their way. The email communication and tone were professional. When I tried to track the packages a couple of days later, I noticed that a) it was not shipped with USPS as announced on their website and in the order confirmation but with CJ Packet, and b) the packages had left a warehouse in China and were on their way to the US....although the business address on the website is in Sedona, AZ. Both packages arrived including all items BUT: - some of the items look similar to what I ordered but were still different = incorrect items - some of the items were made of less quality material than the pictures and descriptions would make you think ("handcrafted jewelry", "dazzling gemstones", "elegant heirloom-quality designs", "timeless pieces - chosen with care and passion for quality"). I sent an email to customer service as instructed on their website for returns & refunds - 30 days Money Back Guarantee! - and was first asked to send photos of the incorrect items. I sent the pictures as required and reminded them of their return policy. Then they offered a 10% discount for the one order, and 20% discount for the second order if I keep the items and don't return them. When I insisted to return the items that I would not wear - or that were wrong - to get the refund and asked for their digital return labels as described on their website, they told me that they don't have return labels. They told me to return the items to an address in China and not to the published business address in Arizona. I was aware that their return policy includes that the buyer pays for returns unless it's a wrong item but of course I assumed that would be within the US. That a warehouse in China is involved is nowhere mentioned on their website or policies. I tried to call the number in Arizona, but that line is dead. Another number in the Netherlands (?!) does not work either. When I confronted them again via email, they only repeated the return address in China or the 20% discount to avoid the hustle to go through expensive returns to China. This seems to me like a scam or fraud, and I feel deceived. I was led to believe to help two retiring lady jewelers in the US who want to sell their quality jewelry. Had I known that this is an operation out of China, I would not have considered ordering anything.
