I am reporting a potential vehicle sales scam. I posted a vehicle for sale on Craigslist, and I was contacted via text by a person identifying himself as Alan from www.carscheckup.com . He instructed me to use their website to provide a vehicle history report as part of the sale. After researching, I discovered that www.carscheckup.com (and related sites such as legitcarscans.com) are reported by multiple sources as fraudulent. These sites: Are newly registered and hosted overseas. Charge for vehicle history reports that may be fake or nonexistent. Are linked to scams targeting car sellers to obtain payment under false pretenses. I did not provide any personal or financial information, but I believe this is an ongoing scam operation targeting vehicle sellers. I want to report this incident to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) for investigation.
