Description

This agency contacted me via text message about an application I placed on indeed.com. The guy name was Anthony. He proceeded to ask me a couple questions, then instructed me to download the terms app because that’s the platform they use for communication, and reach out to the HR department. Once I reached out to the department, someone proceeded to take over and conducted an interview by asking a series of questions, for about 30 minutes. They made it seem like only certain people would be selected for the job position. Once I was “accepted”, I was then emailed w-4 forms as well as a direct deposit document and a welcome letter I had to sign and send back. I was then emailed a check and told to print the check out in color and to trim the check perfectly for endorsement through my bank account. Once I got the check to who I thought was the hiring manager’s standard, I then deposited the check into my bank account. A check for 1,975.60 was deposited into my account and put my freshly opened bank account in the negative. Sterling hire was calling me the whole time throughout the process until they instructed me to go to my bank and find out why the check nut my account in the negative instantly. I tried to call sterling hire bank while I was at the bank so the teller cal explain to them why they said the check was fake. But sterling hire stopped answering the phone. They then called me back once I left the bank and acted like they didn’t or couldn’t believe the bank said the check wasn’t real. They said they’ll contact the HR department and call me back in 5 minutes. I haven’t heard anything else from them, and now they have a picture of my id, my ssi number address and phones number. All my personal information.
