Description
I received a letter in the mail indicating it was time sensitive material and that I needed to call 1-888-307-2075 to get my service contract up to date. It stated that if I didn’t call them then my coverage would be voided and I would be financially liable for any and all repairs on my vehicle. The scammer who wrote the letter knew my name, mailing address, make, model, and year of my car. It even stated the specific name of the warranty package that I purchased. The letter was sent approximately 100 days after I bought my vehicle. There was an official looking stamp in the top left of the letter stating that the letter was “Official Business” and “Penalty for Private Use, $300”. I was given an approval number, which appears random as it doesn’t tie to anything in my records. Approval number was ELGPACRX1290. The letter stated that I needed to call the 888 number and provide my vehicle VIN and current mileage so clearly the scammer didn’t know my vehicle’s VIN. A search online for the 888 number pointed me to the BBB since others had noted receiving similar notices in the mail.
