This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
On Aug 24, 2025 I made an online purchase of a cell phone holder for my car. The name of the company on my credit card was Brook and Ash. On Sept. 5, about 12 days later, I was notified by my credit card company of a charge for $29.99 to a company called Timber and Oaks. Research showed this to be a scam and I never heard of or bought anything from any company by that name. I immediately called the credit card company and ended up having to report it as fraud and get a new card. Moral of the story is check your card information frequently, be aware of unknown charges and report them as quickly as you can. This is the kind of stuff that sours me on buying anything online!
