Description

SCAM ALERT – Avoid LowFareBuddy.com at All Costs I booked through lowfarebuddy.com yesterday and quickly realized I had fallen into a scam. When you make a purchase, you don’t receive your tickets right away like you would with legitimate booking sites. Instead, they send a confirmation email that includes a shady disclaimer: you may be required to send a photo of your government ID or a picture of your debit card to “verify possession.” Big red flag! The email also stated that I would receive confirmation within six hours if my flights were booked, another red flag. I tried calling their customer service line immediately after booking, but there was no answer. There wasn’t even an automated system to indicate I was calling a real business. The next day, I called again to request cancellation of my tickets, but they refused. The agent claimed that I missed the promotional period and that I would have to pay more to book my tickets. I asked to speak to the supervisor, who also claimed that I had “missed the promotional price” and now needed to pay $1,000 more to secure the flights. When I pushed back, he suddenly dropped the “new price” to $650 and then said I only needed to pay the difference between my original payment of $354.60 and the new price of $650 I expressed concerns about their business practices, specifically how they allow people to book tickets, take payment, and then demand hundreds more afterward. I asked the supervisor repeatedly to show me on the website where it states this may happen. He only referenced the email that was sent after the purchase. I asked again, but the supervisor would not answer my question. The supervisor also told me I was “confirmed” for one of my return flights but not for the others, and I would have to pay the additional cost to lock them in. The supervisor hung up on me when I refused to pay more and insisted he tell me where the disclaimer is on the website. At that point, I called the airline directly. They confirmed that I was not booked on any flights whatsoever — not even the return flight they claimed was “confirmed.” I recorded my entire conversation with both the agent and the supervisor. Recommendation: If you’ve already booked through LowFareBuddy, record every call you have with their agents. Their deceptive practices are clear, and having proof is essential. I, thankfully, called my bank immediately, and they were able to put a stop to the payment and ordered me a new debit card. I understand the site has mixed reviews, but based on my experience, this is 100% a scam. Avoid them entirely.
