My cat is lost and my phone number is on missing pet sites. The caller said that my cat was at Salem County Animal Shelter sedated due to a shoulder injury and needs emergency surgery to preserve his mobility. The caller refused to send a pic because they have a policy against sending pics of injured pets, not even a face pic. He refused to supply my cat's microchip number because it would be used to verify my identity. The caller said his name was Arnold Justice. He said the veterinarian's name was Mr. Kelvin Taylor and was very specific that his title is mister, not doctor. Caller ID said "private number." The callback number was 320 500-2469. The caller said I needed to state my first and last name to refuse care. The caller had a heavy accent, maybe West Indies, another male was in the background with the same accent. The background noise sounded like a call center. I told him i needed to call him back on the "320" number then I called Salem County Animal shelter at *** ******** and the shelter staff said they did not have any injured cats and did not know of any vets by that name. The reference number the scammer supplied was XYZ 334.
