Owner Harvey Dewitt, alias Lee Dewitt on personal Facebook account, came to house for quote on home improvement with veteran story and ‘Christian’ values from the FB group ‘Operation Grow Spartanburg’. His FB page seemed legit with multiple recommendations. He displayed a video of a quality project and underbid a legit business. No business card (red flag). No electronic signature with quote. (red flag). We accepted quote and he tried to request Zelle which our bank transfer wouldn’t recognize (red flag). Dewitt rushed to our house and immediately deposited check (red flag). We were told work would begin the following week. No show. No reply to calls (automatic to voicemail - voicemail full), no response to text messages, only response received was excuse after excuse for no show - ‘I had a horrible day’ ‘vehicle trouble’ etc. Out of blue, Dewitt texts late in evening that he is wanting to drop off materials we declined as we were not at home. Upon arriving home, Dewitt had trespassed into our backyard with a few pieces of material without permission. We were not happy. More days of no answer, no reply to text. Voicemail full. No work done, cash deposited. Avoid this scammer. After we accepted we have been scammed, I looked up his name on FB, I find this guy goes by multiple names and business’ names: Harvey Dewitt, De Whitt, Lee Dewitt. Veteran Home Improvement and other similar names. He has run his scam in Western North Carolina as well (see attached FB post from another victim). Dewitt has since deleted his business page on FB. My last text to Dewitt was how he could scam a fellow veteran with zero regard. Message was read. No reply. I plan on filing a criminal report on this individual.
