I placed an order through Uber Eats and canceled only a few minutes after placing it. Despite canceling so quickly, I was charged a $12.79 cancellation fee. I understand that fees may apply if a restaurant has already started preparing food or if the delivery driver has already been dispatched. However, in this case, the cancellation occurred almost immediately after placing the order, before any preparation or delivery steps should reasonably have begun. Charging such a high fee for a cancellation made within minutes is unfair and feels exploitative. I attempted to resolve this directly with Uber Eats through their in-app support, but the response I received was unsatisfactory, and they refused to refund the charge.
