This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I have attached an image of the fake invoice from a person named Anderson Miller. When I called the false 803-986-8773 (S.C. Ph#), a man with a clear Hindi accent answered the phone stating “McAfee Advisors” & said his name was Martin Smith. I called in efforts to get a refund for a PayPal automated annual McAFee premium membership family plan of $430.76. They then proceeded to share my computer and supposedly use a Chase computer system to “refund” the money when they really just transferred money over from my savings account to checking account using my bank information. They then claimed that they falsely deposited an extra $4,000 dollars (4430.76 total) & kept me on the phone & sent me to get $500 gift cards and give them the info over a cell phone # 209-434-2463. I was only able to withdraw $1000 thanks to my bank limit. This Mr Smith kept me on the phone over 2 hours & kept pressing to see if I had any other credit cards to supplement the remaining $3000. I emphatically told him no. I am DISGUSTED by these cruel, corrupt people!
