Warm regards, Peter Walker Medicare Hellas. that While looking for work, I received an email with the following communication. After reviewing your background, we’re pleased to invite you to a virtual interview for a remote position at Medicare Hellas. Interview Date: Friday, August 8, 2025 Time: 8:00 AM (Your local time) Format: Online via Microsoft Teams Position Options: Front Desk, Administrative Assistant, Customer Service Representative, Bookkeeping, Accounting Clerk Pay Range: $40–$50 per hour (based on experience and role) I then responded, "interested". I was then directed to speak with the hiring manager, who did an email interview, stating it was for documentation purposes. I then received notification that I was awarded the job. I was told I would be sent a check to purchase the supplies I needed for the job. Later, I was told I would be sent the funds, which would include my pay for the training I had completed so far. I said I was not to purchase supplies with my pay. I told them I did not feel it was appropriate to purchase the supplies myself. I was told I would know best what I needed. I had asked what supplies I needed. They responded that they would let me know once the check was deposited. I was then told they would be emailing a check, and I should print it off and deposit it from my Mobile phone to hasten the commencement of work. I repeated my concerns regarding my purchasing supplies. I asked them to purchase supplies and have them delivered to my home I asked, where I would purchase supplies and what to do with the excess funds? You would buy where you would normally buy, and there will not be any excess funds. I took the mailed check to my bank and said I think I might be getting scammed. The teller immediately said, “I can tell you, you are”. I asked how you know without the rest of the story or seeing the information I received in the mail. He said we have had 30 people before you came in with the same story. He showed me several discrepancies on the check to confirm that the check is fraudulent. I did not respond any more to the hiring manager Derek Fox with Medicare Hellas SA, nor to Peter Walker who emailed the job offer.
