I was at a local Costco store yesterday and purchased a few items. My wife added her name to my account and received her new id card. There was no other interaction with my identification nor any other personal information other than scanning my membership card at the entrance twice (I had to go back out once to get a cart), to set up my wife's information at the membership desk, and when I paid for my items at a self-checkout computer.
