Description

Subject: Report of Potential Scam Using Tesla’s Name for Fraudulent Job Offer To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to report a suspected scam involving individuals or entities impersonating Tesla to offer fraudulent job opportunities. On [insert date you received the message], I received an unsolicited message from someone claiming to be Linda Jackson, a recruiter at Tesla, offering a position as an Information Systems Manager. The message was sent via text and included the following details: • Claim: My resume was recommended by “several online recruitment companies” for one of five vacant remote positions. • Job Description: Described as helping “merchants update data” with free training, requiring 20–60 minutes of work daily, with a daily salary of $200–$500 and a weekly salary exceeding $2,000. • Benefits: Promised 15–20 days of paid annual leave, plus statutory holidays like maternity and paternity leave. • Contact Method: Instructed to contact via WhatsApp at +1-678-303-2777. • Age Requirement: Stated candidates must be at least 25 years old. The offer raises several red flags, including an unrealistic salary for minimal work, vague job responsibilities inconsistent with a typical Information Systems Manager role, and the use of WhatsApp instead of official Tesla communication channels (e.g., @tesla.com email). The phone number and phrasing closely resemble scam tactics reported by the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. I am concerned that scammers are misusing Tesla’s reputation to deceive job seekers, potentially leading to financial loss or identity theft. I have not shared personal information or responded to the message. I am reporting this to help prevent others from falling victim and to alert Tesla to the misuse of their brand. Please confirm receipt of this report and let me know if additional information is needed. I am also reporting this to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org to aid in tracking and preventing such scams. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, ******** *********
