The company Ghostwriting Nerds was engaged for a book publishing arrangement. Initial contract for services to complete the project was for $499.00 and was paid in full on good faith. Three days later a $1250.00 charge was made. It was unauthorized and no explanation or receipt was given for the charge that was not discovered until later. One week after that, once work had already begun, they stated more money was needed for an account creation in the amount of $250.00. However, it was not explained what this was specifically for. A little more than two weeks later, it was requested that a payment of another $1200.00 to have a custom website created, having been told it was "needed" to sell the book being published. It was not, and a request was made to refund the payment. The company would not comply. About one month later, company again requested more money to register and obtain three ISBN numbers and a Copyright for the book's release in the amount of $775.00. I was never provided with the ISBN numbers or Copyright information and no filings or registrations were able to be found searching the ISBN database or the Library of Congress. The bank was contacted and the charges were reversed, thankfully. The work they were to perform on editing the manuscript was sub par, and their "professional" editors clearly did not read through it to understand the writing or the storyline. An AI generated book cover mockup was never edited, nor finalized or made print ready. After stating the website was paid for and non-refundable, I tried to get a link to view it since they said it was almost finished. I never approved anything ahead of time yet it was nearly completed? I eventually was sent a screenshot of a publicly available and free to download Wordpress template. After months of trying to get the services that were "paid" for, I still had not received or been provided any final versions of anything. I did some research into the "company" and can find no business license or registration for Ghostwriting Nerds in the state of California. In their contract they state specifically" “Company,” “We,” or “Our” mean and refer to GhostWritingNerds.com, a company registered under the laws of California. This is not the case. The have business addresses listed on their website that they do not occupy space within, or either of their other offices for that matter. Their main telephone number is inactive. Their website is full of misleading and false information, showing reviews with pictures of people that do not exist, showing books for authors that they had no dealings with as if they worked on them, displaying many books and/or authors that do not exist at all and basically, completely misrepresenting their company and business practices. The Vice President, Lucas Dawson and the Head of Department, Michal Myers apparently do not exist or work with the company. When confronted with the termination of contract and request for refund, Brittany (company consultant) was attempting to justify all the work that was supposedly being or had been done. Under the terms of their contract, we have the right to terminate the agreement, which they did in fact breach. They collected monies under false justification and falsely claiming themselves as a registered business in the state of California, and not deliveringa usable product. Avoid this company and be cautious of other Ghostwriting type companies, as several others I have looked into seem to have a similar MO. Do your research and check sources.
