After applying on LinkedIn or Indeed, I received an email from Sarah Guilford ([email protected]) with an offer to interview for a data entry clerk position. I replied to the email accepting the interview opportunity. I was given a link to a "test" prior to interviewing - "https://careers.firstsensemed.com/assessment". This "test" consisted of a few data sorting questions and a few interview type questions where I had to write out my responses. I was also given access to the "employee portal" - https://forms.office.com/r/bSBv5d4dLP. Following this test being completed, I was emailed with an offer letter with the company letterhead outlining the employment, benefits, wages, start date etc. The offer letter mentioned office supplies provided by the company (laptop, scanner, and portable desk), and a software which would be purchased by me with funds supplied by a company check. My mom, my husband, and I all did a lot of online research and the website and reviews seemed legitimate. The job listing was even listed on their careers page with Sarah Guilford listed as the contact person. After accepting the offer, I was given login information to my employee portal dashboard and asked to make an account through Telegram. After I confirmed the information was correct (the only information given was my name, phone number, email address, and mailing address), Sarah Guilford stopped communicating with me. My start date was set for one week later and I didn't hear anything despite reaching out regarding the upcoming training. I never received any funds, check, or equipment. The day listed as my start date I still had not heard anything. I looked up the phone number on the company's Yelp page as a phone number was not listed in any of our communication or on their website. I called the number listed - 602-603-0749 and talked to a woman named Rebecca. I asked if it was FirstSense Medical and she informed me that the company went out of business. This prompted me to dig deeper on the internet searching specifically for Sarah's email, the phone number, and reddit posts. I discovered "FirstSense Medical" was listed as deadpooled in 2019 - meaning it failed or went out of business. There were several reddit posts made the same week about similar experiences. The phone number listed goes back to a company called ThermaScan which seems very similar to FirstSense Medical. It appears that they have changed company names to continue scamming people.
