I received a text message which claimed to be from Amazon fraud control. The text message asked me to authorize a $999 charge to my Amazon prime account. The charge was supposedly for an iPhone 16 Pro. I called the phone number provided And was told that my Social Security number had been used to create up to 12 extra bank accounts either savings or checking. I was told that half $1 million had been deposited into these false bank accounts. The text message arrived on July 30, 2025 when I called I was passed to several different lines via phone transfer. The people I spoke with seemed to be speaking English as a second language and their accent seemed to be indicating they were from India or Pakistan originally. The people that I spoke to claimed that the package was to be sent to number 49 Arcadia Court Albany, NY 12209. The name of the Social Security person I spoke with reported to be David B as in boy Robbins ROBBINS he gave his badge number as G as in Gary S as in Sam 3586 I was later transferred to a man identifying himself as Darren Michael Dodd DODD he identified himself as employee number C S R 2021997. The purported charge on Amazon to my prime account was made on July 21, 2025. They said my case number was AMZ144D as in David 9071. I called Chase Bank using the Contact number on the back of my Chase access card and explained this event and asked to verify or validate my own personal account to differentiate from any of the false fraudulent accounts that PURPORTED to have been created. After 45 minutes of a phone conversation with these people who I believed at the time to be scammers They asked me to send a photograph of my New York drivers license both the front and the back. In order to get off of the phone, I did send a photograph of the front of my drivers license. I did not send a photograph of the back. I’m concerned because supposedly the Social Security representative said that I was to receive a new Social Security card in the mail. I am unable to verify receipt of such card because I am currently in the hospital. I expect to be released within the next few weeks at which time I will verify receipt of this card. My contact at Chase Bank said my account was fine. I also checked Through Chase Bank credit tracking as well as Wells Fargo bank credit tracking and there has been no new accounts opened under my identity. The credit agency report which I reviewed was from Experian please contact me. Should there be anything else necessary? I will provide any information you need. I do not want my perfect credit score to be upset. currently at Wells Fargo Experian my rating is 850.
