This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
A phone call came in to my cell phone and the caller had a thick Hispanic accent and mentioned something about my vehicle and $1100 needing to be paid I asked where he’s calling from and he hung up. Then I got a letter in the mail with a notice date of July 21, 2025 and from “official business“ as the company. Their number on this letter 888-404-1912. The letter is vague and the only personal information on there about myself or from the scammer is my name and address. The number for Espanol is 888-404-1403. The letter is not signed and has no signature. The letter is brief and states that their records show that I haven’t contacted them to have my vehicle service contract activated. It says if my factory warranty is expired I’ll be responsible for paying any repairs. At the bottom it shows options that I can choose for coverage. Hours of operation Monday through Friday 7 AM to 5 PM. “Immediate response requested” is all caps and bold font. I must respond by August 21, 2025. I googled the number instead of calling and it led me to scams.
