Description

A family member was attempting to contact Capital One Travel to confirm a reservation that was not showing up in the hotel's system. The greeting was very similar to Capital One's. An automated message said that he had been selected to receive a shopping voucher but then she requested a credit card number to take care of the shipping card to mail it to him. He declined to provide his credit card and said he no longer wanted the voucher and wanted information on the reservation. She said her system was down and she could not look up anything. He then hung up and looked at the phone number he entered. Two numbers were transposed. The scammer is using a phone number that is nearly identical to the real Capital One Travel. Capital One Travel's phone number is 844-422-6922 and the scammer is using 844-422-9622.
