I initially found and attempted to rent property via Airbnb. A representative named Angela messaged me back and asked that I book instead via their website (I understand now that her accomplice is named Jacob). Months later, when I looked online for the property, I saw that it had been delisted from their website. Afterward, I found several online posts from others describing similar experiences.
