The scammer initially made contact through a person named Rod Julia Caldwell, claiming that her husband had died and she was moving to France. She said she needed a home for her baby grand piano. After many back-and-forth emails with photos, including pictures of the piano and its dimensions, she connected us with a company called Metro Global Link Logistic Express, which claimed to have offices in Calgary. They had a website that appeared very legitimate. A person from that company named Christopher McAstalker then contacted me multiple times asking about the method of delivery, transport insurance, and related details. We created a wire transfer to cover these costs, but that was the last we heard from the scammer. We are a prominent business and often receive interesting requests, so at first it seemed like this could have been legitimate. Our business could have provided a good home for the piano—had it actually existed.
