This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
Contacted by a Steven Eckwood claiming to be from 921 Logistics LLC stating that he had seen my resume on CalJobs and offering data entry work starting at $30 hour. I checked out this "company" and found a prior BBB scam report for the same company. I checked the company website and the business address is an apartment in Chino Hills. The links to information on the services provided by the company all take one to a contact form. There is no phone number or email provided on the site. The California Secretary of State website shows that that an ALMA VILLALBA at the apartment address did an initial filing on 10/6/22 but failed to file the required Statement of Information (Corporate information including officers, registered agent etc.) by the 1/4/23 deadline. The initial filing said that the purpose of the company was anything legally permissible for a CA LLC. The "company" is a shell used to apparently scam job seekers using information culled from CalJobs. The person or people behind it obviously have enough knowledge of how to set up a company in California with the least amount of information necessary to create a fictitious entity that can pass as a legitimate business.
