Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I was recruited via WhatsApp. ?? Why Scammers Love WhatsApp for Job Scams 1. Global, Free, and Instant Scammers can target victims worldwide with zero cost. WhatsApp uses phone numbers, so they don’t need email addresses or websites. It supports text, voice, and media, letting them impersonate a real employer convincingly. 2. No Identity Verification WhatsApp doesn’t verify users or require real identities. A scammer can create a fake business profile or impersonate a HR manager easily with a logo and name. 3. Easy to Automate or Copy-Paste Most scammers use pre-written scripts to send hundreds of messages quickly. They promise remote work, high pay, little effort — the perfect bait. 4. Hard to Trace Phone numbers used are often from burner phones or VoIP lines. Law enforcement finds it harder to trace or shut down WhatsApp accounts than websites or email servers. 5. WhatsApp Web = Faster Scamming Many scammers use WhatsApp Web on a computer to scam dozens of people at once. This makes “customer support” and fake interviews feel more real. The opportunity is an online job with high commissions, no experience needed and just a few hours per week. Victims are taught how to perform SEO Optimization tasks that help producers improve their online product placement and rating to help them improve their sales. The victim must eventually pay money in order to receive outrageous commissions. Deposits from the victim are all transacted with cryptocurrency, usually via Crypto.com.
