Description
Subject: Telus iPhone 16 Pro Promotion Scam — Caller Posing as Telus Loyalty department named “Derek Parker” I received repeated calls from a person claiming to be from Telus’s “Loyalty Department,” saying my current promotional contract is expiring on August 12, 2025 and offering a special upgrade to an iPhone 16 Pro. They claimed I could receive the phone while staying on the same plan with no change in monthly cost. The caller provided a callback number (778-654-2028) and an email address ([email protected]) to verify the promotion. They were very persistent, calling multiple times and leaving voicemails. I was told the promotion was only available to loyal customers like myself. The caller claimed I wouldn’t need to provide any personal information — instead, they would guide me through my Telus online account to complete the upgrade. Although I was skeptical, I was walked through the process up to the checkout screen. At that point, I was handed off to a “supervisor” at 778-300 9504, who identified himself as Derek Parker. The voice did not match the name, which raised further concern. I told them I was on another call and hung up. Afterward, I contacted Telus directly through their official customer service number and was informed this was a fraudulent offer. I did not provide any personal information, but the scammers knew:- My name- My phone number- My email address- The expiry date of my Telus contract During the call, I could clearly hear 5–6 other individuals in the background conducting similar conversations with other victims. I am requesting that these phone numbers and email addresses be investigated and blocked to help prevent others from being targeted. Please let me know if any further details are needed, and thank you for helping protect Canadians from telecom fraud
