I was contacted by two separate people, claiming they worked as a recruiter at GRIN. I looked up what a "GRIN" was, and it turned out to be an ai-powered influencer marketing company. already some suspicions, but i figured i had time to waste THEIR time so i responded with a "Hello, I received your message and would like more information on the remote position at GRIN." The return messaging was as follows: Recruiter: Hello, my name is Beth from the company "GRIN". Let me give you a quick overview of what we do here. Sound good? Me: Yes sounds good R: Our company is partnering with YouTube creators who need real viewers to support their channels by subscribing, watching videos, liking, and commenting. It's easy, and you can do it all from your phone or computer anytime- (the spiel went on abt how much i could make and that i would have to complete tasks. this was what caused me to be even more wary. Just this morning i had to extract myself from an mlm scheme my mom tried to drag me into, so i wasn't abt to get all riled up over another "easy job"). They then directed me to subscribe to a youtube channel for $15 as a trial task. It was a simple $15, so i did that and sent the demanded screenshot of my finished task. The recruiter also mentioned something called "Lucky Mall" tasks, and i immediately looked it up. i scoured reddit and even found a consumer advice post from the Federal Trade Commission about task scams. But i was promised $15 dollars and i decided to get that and bounce. I had already done the task. So wheres my money? 'Beth' asked if i had a telegram (the mlm also made sure i had one, and thats why i had one in the first place.) Through telegram, 'Beth' asked my cashapp, which i was more eager to give than like, yknow, my bank account. the $15 showed up, but i decided to not accept it yet. when asked for yet ANOTHER screenshot, i cropped out the "Pending Approval" and sent it. 'Beth' said "Congratulations on receiving you first payment from the merchant", and that they would invite me to the work group and that once i joined i could start working on tasks. Im inquiring further about it, but just know im not going to do any tasks or pay them any money. Im disabled, job-less, and very nosy though, so i WILL be looking in that "work group" and seeing whats up.
