Description

I received a text message from an e-mail of all things stating that they were from Indeed, but they didn’t have an Indeed email. The email is [email protected] and they told me’ “ Hello, excuse me, I'm a Recruitment Assistant at Indeed. We would like to offer you a great remote part-time/full-time job to help update app store data, increase app views and downloads, and provide you with free training. Flexible part-time and full-time jobs, allowing you to work 30 to 90 minutes a day, 4 days a week, and earn extra income on weekends. You can work anytime, anywhere according to your schedule and earn $100 to $800 a day. The basic salary is $950 for every 4 days worked. Paid annual leave: In addition to statutory holidays such as maternity and paternity leave, full-time employees also enjoy 5-15 days of paid annual leave. If you would like to participate, please send a message to this number +15169884389 for more information. (EST: 11:00-23:00) (Note: You must be 25 years old and responsible)”. So, I texted the provided phone number, introduced myself and got a reply from someone who called themself “Anna” saying, “ Thank you for your response. I am Anna, the person in charge of this recruitment. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Our company works with well-known app developers on the App Store/Play Store. They are willing to pay to get more clicks and views, increase the visibility of the app, make it easier for users to find it and thus increase the chances of actual downloads. Each task takes only 5 seconds to complete and you can get paid $100-800 per day.” I asked how the job worked and was replied with, “ Do you use Telegram Messenger? We use Telegram Messenger at work.” And “ Our daily work is done on Telegram and it only takes a little time. We will provide you with training. After the training is completed, we will prepay you $15 training commission. You can download a copy of Telegram first, so that we can communicate more easily and stay in touch every day!” Then, gullible as I was, downloaded the telegram app and received these details: Great, I think you fully understand this job. Please add our work reception manager on TelegramAPP:https://t.me/Isabellaalove, she will send you bonus and future work arrangements. Please send your work code to the reception manager: QC81- 3299. I search up the person on TelegramAPP and provided the work code and got responded with, “ Hello.Welcome to Appflyers global platform for part-time and full-time jobs! After you become our full time employee, you can get $1300 bonus!”, “ I am Isabella. Your position manager. Nice to meet you.” I showed interest in the position because I’m an idiot an didn’t question any of the events as they were happening. I was given details like: $15 new employee bonus, $5-$10 commission per task completed, and that it would “drive greater visibility to an app and push it to more customers.” It sounded easy, and a little strange but I ignored the strangeness. I was walked through the “workflow” and completed the 10 tasks of that day. Clicking on links to apps in the App Store, staying for 5 seconds and screenshotting the apps’ pages and sending the screenshots to my “work manager”. Finally I was given the 3rd task which is what they call a “nose task”, in which you make an account on “group768.com” and use your real money to buy BitCoin and send them an allotted amount and they transfer it to this website where you “buy up” and get a profit of the selected percentage. Then once completed with all 10 daily tasks they send you but coin back through whichever bitcoin wallet you use and you convert it back to real money. On the 3rd day of this I was put into a team of 3 other strangers and we were tasked with buying first $30 worth of bitcoin, three $700, and thirdly $2500. Directed by the “group mentor” and sending it to the “company’s” bitcoin wallet, I guess, and repeating the process in perpetuity. Since I had gotten to my CashApp’s purchasing limit for cash and BitCoin, the “mentor” had me go to an external BitCoin wallet machine and purchase BitCoin from there. So I did, and then I went home because it was late and I was tired and my phone was about to die. The next day I completed the $700 BitCoin purchase and then he tells us, “Congratulations, you’ve unlocked the rare 3rd order!” I and 1 other person in the group say we can’t pay for any of the significantly higher priced options and the ‘me tier asks to talk to me privately. He says if I can’t afford to prepay for the plan then I should ask friends or family for help. I get guilty after hearing this, as one should’ve far earlier in these events, and ask a sensible person outside of this group for help and the sensible person told me that this is a scam and I have made a huge mistake and that I should report these people on here. I trust this sensible person, so that’s my story. Be aware of any business proposition that sound too good to be true because, they usually are.
