Description
On June 21, 2025, I saw an advertisement on TikTok by X Shipping Limited promoting a “security” flashlight designed to help individuals defend themselves from assailants. The ad listed the flashlight at a price of $29.50, and I proceeded to place an order. However, after the order was processed, I noticed my total charge was $60.29, nearly double the advertised price. The total included various add-on fees—such as charges for compostable packaging, shipping protection, insurance, handling, and more—that were not disclosed prior to finalizing the purchase. While I expected a standard shipping fee, these additional charges were neither itemized nor clearly explained at checkout. I contacted the company immediately. They acknowledged the issue and issued a partial refund of $25.84 on June 25. At that time, I had not yet received the item. The flashlight finally arrived on July 12. Upon opening the package, I found a small, generic flashlight in an unmarked box, without any instructions or documentation. The advertised features—particularly the ability to “shock an assailant”—were not evident in the product I received. The packaging also lacked an invoice or any return information. I contacted the company again the next business day (Monday, July 14). They apologized and initially offered a 20% refund. I declined and requested a full refund along with a return address. They then offered a 30% refund, which I again refused. Finally, they offered a 50% refund, which I also declined, as the product did not match the description or advertised features. To date, I have received only the partial refund of $25.84. I am still owed $34.45. In summary, X Shipping Limited appears to be engaged in deceptive business practices: • Misleading advertising of product functionality. • Undisclosed and unjustified fees added at checkout. • Delayed product delivery. • Refusal to provide a return address. • Attempts to avoid full refunds by offering progressively larger partial refunds. This pattern suggests a deliberate strategy to mislead consumers and avoid accountability. I am attempting to file a dispute through PayPal. I am waiting to see what PayPal can do to help me..
