Description

Originally applied for Dog Walker role on Indeed and received this email first: Thank you for your interest for our Dog Walker Position. To build a diverse pool of candidates, our recruitment team sourced applicants from well-regarded job platforms, including Indeed, ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn, and other industry-specific sites. Your application stood out to us and we would like to get started with you as soon as possible. You are to contact BRIAN LANG on email at [email protected] to confirm your interest in the role. NOTE: Kindly ignore the webEx meeting date/time, meeting link. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards. After replying, I received this email: Greetings and thanks for your response.. My name is Brian Lang, and I am the Director of Human Resources at Comcast Connectivity and Platforms. For me, this is a new beginning, as I am 45 years old and lost my wife to breast cancer last year. I am relocating to your region in a few weeks with my two darling canines, Zeus and Luke. I am in dire need of a responsible and honest pet care provider. Our furry pets are amiable. Zeus, a German shepherd, is one year and two months old. My late wife acquired him in London. Luke, a Labrador Retriever, is one year and eight months old. He is also comfortable with other dogs and cats. Going for treks is something he finds enjoyable. Luke is an excellent player with other dogs, and his absolute favourite pastime is retrieving toys outside. We have contacted a supplier for the dog's cage, toys, blankets, food, bed, and any other necessary items. Zeus and Luke are both house and crate trained. Zeus and Luke are of immense significance to me.I am in need of an individual who will have the responsibility of scheduling walks, nourishing, and caring for the pets. The services you provide will involve the care of the canines at my residence, as well as the option of overnight visits if desired. I am also amenable to allowing them to remain at your residence, provided that you establish a strong rapport with him, due to the nature of my work. I have been reassigned to your city and we are currently in the process of relocating to the area, which is why I am recruiting ASAP. That's why we seek to hire with couple of things regarding our relocation too. 1) Is this something you can do? Within what time frame would you be able to commence work upon being hired? 2) How soon can you get started if hired? 3) Can you provide a reference? IF YES. Kindly get back to me with your information below * Full Name: * Address: * City: * State: * Zip Code: * Phone Number: * Age: I then replied with how I decide to turn down the role. However, the next day, I then received this email: I really appreciate you for getting back to me on time with the Information required from you. I have been very busy with work and our relocation process. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email. I really appreciate your time and availability for me to be rest assured that you will be willing to take very good care of them. Your duties include: House Sitting,Mail/Newspaper Retrieval,Watering Plants,Pet Sitting/walking,Daily Feeding This could be a temporary/permanent job. It depends on what your schedule looks like but I do like to be sure if you are available the first month. I did some research on the wages for your service and I have decided to start with $35 per hour and as time goes we can negotiate on a new pay as my dog gets along with you. I want to inform you that I have a seminar I will be attending as soon as I arrive and will be having a proper face to face meeting with you as soon as I arrive with my Dogs. We will be starting you with $840 per week as we have made transportation funds added to that as well just to ensure your needs and comfortability is looked into as well. You'll be paid to start asap as I've several small assignments for you to get done before our arrival such as purchasing what may be needed before our arrival, so therefore your first week pay $840 and payment that will cover all expenses needed to make on our behalf will be mail out to you by my finance manager. I have made some arrangements with the dog utility suppliers, so as soon as you get the payment, you will deduct your first week pay and have the rest sent to the dog utility suppliers as soon as the check clears, I hope my Dogs will have the best of time while is in your care and I hope you will treat them right just like yours, attached is a picture of Zeus & Luke. Get back to me as I have a lot of issues to put in place prior to my arrival. I would appreciate it if you can tell me a few things about yourself and maybe attach one or two pictures of you, as well as sending your full address for check delivery(APT NUMBER). Cheers I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you and God bless. If you have received it in error, please advise the sender by reply email and immediately delete the message and any attachments without copying or disclosing the contents. Thank you. I then realized the main reason why I got the last email is because I often put down my name, address, city, state, phone number, and zip code at the end of my emails, as it's something I'd subconsciously do so job managers and interviewers within my local home area can properly contact me. The only thing I never put on my emails is my age. But after receiving that last email, and looking up the person's email online, I've learned that this is a fake job scam. To everyone who's saw these emails, make sure to block the user and report them on here. And if you see any Dog Walker/Pet Sitter posts on Indeed, it's best to be on the side of caution and research everything that's included in it, before applying to it.
