I was targeted by a scammer operating under multiple fake business names, including C&D Junk Removal LLC, C&D Diamond Deals, and Southern Movers LLC, based in the Hendersonville and Saluda, North Carolina area. The scammer used the phone number 828-674-3325 to contact me by text message, falsely claiming to represent 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and demanding payment for a junk removal service that had already been completed and paid through legitimate means. The scammer used personal details such as my name, home address, the actual date of service, and a fabricated invoice amount to create a false sense of legitimacy. The messages included fraudulent payment links using Stripe and Apple Cash, along with threats that law enforcement would be contacted if payment was not made immediately. After researching the number, I identified the individual responsible as Colton Dewolfe Bounds, who has a documented criminal history in North Carolina, including charges for larceny, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and driving while license revoked. This individual is not affiliated with the real 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and is using these business names without proper registration or licensing. This scam has been reported to law enforcement, the FBI Internet Crime Center (IC3), the North Carolina Department of Justice, and multiple fraud prevention agencies. Consumers should be extremely cautious if contacted by anyone using these business names or this phone number. Do not send any payments via Stripe, Apple Cash, or any other method without verifying directly with the actual service provider. This is an active scam that preys on unsuspecting individuals by impersonating legitimate companies and demanding fraudulent payments.
