A man phoned my elderly mom and claimed he was from her doctor's office and needed to verify her Medicare information. He already knew her name, address, birthdate, and Medicare number. Also, his caller ID was the same phone number as her doctor's office, so he was spoofing their number. He kept putting my mom on hold and told her he was contacting Medicare to get her a new card. About a week later she received a lab slip through the mail from R & R Labs in Deerfield Beach, Florida and the ordering provider was Michael Garcia, MD from a business called Telesolutions MD PC in Riverside, CA. Telesolutions also has an address in Corona, CA. Additionally, a fraudulent Medicare claim for over $700.00 was filed using my mom's Medicare number. The provider on the fraudulent claim is Rashid Ali Awan, MD who also happens to be one of the owners of Telesolutions MD PC. They called my mom again about a month later with the same story. They try to keep her on the phone for a certain period of time and then they bill her Medicare insurance for a phony telehealth visit.
