I received emails, texts and my "Expedia Trips" notification that my itineraries have been changed. I was not able to get in-touch with Expedia customer service with #866-310-5768 provided on email. I searched google for another service# and was able to talk to Expedia live agent. He immediately let me know that the changed itinerary was sold out because I failed to call in immediately. In order to book the same itinerary as my other 7 family members, I needed to pay for upgraded seats, $800 per seat for 3 seats. This person had my 2 itinerary #s and was able to see details of my trips. I was led to believe he was from Expedia. I refused to pay for seats and he then reduced price to $400 per seat. I still refused. He then passed me to his manager who was very helpful. He suggested he can cancel my current trips and rebook by consolidating my 2 itineraries into 1 to make it simpler and he was able to book me on the new route that my other 7 family members are on. He even sent me confirmation and refund amounts. He even had my refund amounts to the pennies. Upon receiving my confirmation, I had him stay on phone while I checked into the new itinerary and was able to rebook seats on first leg. Because the itinerary even appeared on my Expedia App and online account and I was able to rebook seats on Alaska airline, I really felt this was real. He then charged me $5103 and said refunds will follow shortly. But within 3 hours, the new itinerary was cancelled but charge went through credit card. I realized then that it was a scam. However, following day I reported to Expedia and asked them to look up the fake itinerary# and the rep told me the # was real! Did scammer infiltrate Expedia and customer accounts and thus had access to customer information? Even scarier that the fake trip was added to my Expedia Trips on my app. Expedia takes no responsibility and has no one or contact # that I can report scam. They provided a link for me to upload images. I will not be using Expedia again.
