This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I received a letter from "Domain Name Services" with an attempt to use language that would frighten me into thinking that my domain is in danger of expiration unless I pay money to the company. This is not my domain holder. The letter was sent not to my name, but to my website name, and the address on the letter was my church address, not my home address. This means that the sender did research on my website to find any information they could for how to get the letter to me since I do not provide contact information for myself on my website. This type of letter violates consumer protection laws and attempts to commit domain hijacking via deception.
